Ali Farag Biography

Ali Farag is an Egyptian professional squash player. He is the current world number 1 in the PSA World Rankings

Farag was born in Cairo, Egypt on March 8, 1991. He began playing squash at the age of six at his local club, El GounaSquash Club. He quickly began to show promise as a player, and by age thirteen he was the number one ranked player in his age group in Egypt.

He continued to progress as a player, and in 2009 he won the gold medal at the World Junior Championships. He also won the British Junior Open that same year.

After winning the World Junior Championships, he decided to turn professional. He moved to England to train at the Manchester Squash Club. He made his professional debut in 2010 at the British Open.

Since turning professional, He has gone on to have great success on the professional squash circuit. He has won numerous tournament titles, including the British Open (2017), the PSA World Series Finals (2017), and the PSA World Championships (2018).

In 2018, Farag also became the first Egyptian player to reach the number one ranking in the PSA World Rankings. He has since held onto that ranking, and is currently considered to be one of the best squash players in the world.
