The Alphacat was another new model for 2021. We recently put the model through its paces, as it looks very much like a trainer. First and foremost, the Adapt Foam, which is made up of EVA cushioning and an impact-resistant polymer, creates a solid but comfortable shoe. This shoe avoids the pitfall of being overly soft.
The support it gives around the ankle is the shoe’s highlight, according to our tests. When your foot is in the shoe, it feels secure, allowing you to boldly swing for the hills on an uncomfortable lay without worrying about your foot moving.
From an aesthetic standpoint, we believe Puma has nailed it. The grey and white variant we tried looks great thanks to the pop of orange on the heel and the faux mesh pattern that runs the length of the shoe. The Alphacat is also presented in the two other colorways, with equally stark contrasts in the grey and black versions. We’d also recommend going half a size up, since they run a little small around the toes, and we were most comfortable at a half size larger than usual.

3. PUMA GOLF RS-G – BEST TO MAKE A STATEMENT

Since its release, the RS-G has been one of the most talked-about shoes, as it pioneers new territory in golf shoe design by fusing street and sport culture with golf performance. The laces are rather thick, but the shoe is really soft and fitting, to the point that you may want to size up a half-size, and you don’t feel as high off the ground as the sole design suggests.
Even while tested during an unexpected rain shower (our feet stayed dry), the level of grip was enough, and there is a reasonable level of stability on offer. The white/grey colorway looks great with a pair of grey trousers, and they didn’t look as out of place as we had expected. The women’s version, in particular, has proven to be quite popular, which is not surprising given that we featured it in our guide to the best women’s golf shoes. Olivia Cowan, in particular, has demonstrated her love for the sneaker by wearing it on tour.
